Trip

Island Hopping

It was a sunny Saturday morning. My family decided to go island hopping, which is from mainland to St. John’s Island and Kusu Island. We went to Marina South Pier to board the ferry to St. John’s Island. We got onto the ferry, and after a few minutes, we set off for our first destination- St. John’s Island.

When we reached the island, we first headed to the beach and played in the sand for about 10 minutes. I took a twig that was on the ground and used it as a pencil and drew pictures in the sand. After that, we went to explore the island. We went to a toilet and we cleaned ourselves. Next, we strolled towards a shelter where we rested. My sister dashed towards the shelter, but when she saw two cats, she ran back towards us, saying she was scared.

When we finally settled down, we looked in the water. Suddenly, my mother said, “Look! There are fishes in the water!” My whole family peered into the water, but none of us saw the fishes. My mother pointed to the shallow waters near the shelter, and everyone let out a chorused “Oh...”. Just then, my sister yelled. We turned to look at her. She was trying to get away from the cats, but the bench was too short. My father tried to tell her that  if she did not make sudden moves, the cats would not attack her. Then, to illustrate his point, he reached out and stroked a cat slowly. To further emphasize his point, he asked me to stroke the other cat. I reached out and touched the cat’s soft velvety fur. Soon, I was  playing with the two cats. After we rested enough, we went to the toilet again to wash our hands.

When the ferry came to bring us to Kusu Island, we boarded it and settled down on the top deck. The wind blowing into our faces was strong as the boat cruised towards the island. We had only half an hour to get as many photographs as we could before boarding the ferry, because it was the last ferry to mainland Singapore. We snapped shot after shot, then hurried to the ferry.

The ferry finally left Kusu Island, and headed back to Marina South Pier where we headed back home to have a wonderful steamboat dinner.
